Syarafana graduated from the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom with a BSc Psychology degree before obtaining her Master of Clinical Psychology from Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI). Syarafana provides psychological assessment services including IQ tests, neurological tests, and tests evaluating memory, ADHD, autism, adaptive behaviour, depression, anxiety, OCD and psychosis. This is in addition to the psychological intervention services that she provides.
Her therapy sessions mostly focus on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Other intervention sessions are also provided such as parental skills training, exposure therapy and behavioural modification. She is also conducting group programs for adolescents and young adults with social skills problems (social skills training), and the elderly with neurological and memory problems (Golden SMILE). This is done with the collaboration of other trainees and under the supervision of Ms Urmilah Dass, the director of Valley Psych. Syarafana is fluent in English and Malay.
